Faculty and professors from seven Portuguese universitites and MIT support the MIT Portugal Program through curriculum development, instruction, supervision and supportive roles.

The universities and institutions involved in the program have targeted four main areas of study for the program, bio-engineering systems, engineering design and advanced manufacturing, sustainable energy systems, and transportation systems, as key areas for economic development and societal impact.
