Within the framework of the MIT Portugal Program a professorship in Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing (EDAM) is open at the University of Minho. This vacancy will correspond to an assistant professor position in the Portuguese university system and will be yearly renovated. The EDAM Professor is expected to develop teaching, research and support activities within the EDAM Agenda, namely: - supporting the coordinator of the EDAM focus area on the management of the program, in close relationship with the other EDAM professors of FEUP and IST.
- planning, management and implementation of research projects within EDAM target areas;
- supervision (or co-supervision) of post-graduate students involved in the EDAM activities;
- organization of EDAM seminars and other promotion and dissemination initiatives;
- curricular development of EDAM courses, including those associated to the LTI (Leaders for Technical Industries) and TME (Technology Management Enterprise) post-graduate programs;
Applicants should hold a PhD degree and have relevant academic and research experience in the area of the EDAM Agenda. Selection requisites include: - Comprehensive knowledge of the scope of areas associated to the EDAM Agenda
- English proficiency
- Record of publications in ISI web of Science
- Availability to spend training periods at MIT (typically from 2 to 6 months)
The following will be considered as preferential criteria: - Good knowledge of the Portuguese language
- Previous experience with engineering design activities
The EDAM Professorship is a full time commitment. Other activities are subject to previous authorization of the MIT Portugal authorities. The position is available from 1st September 2011.
