MIT Portugal Program Hosts MIT Europe Conference

Wednesday, 16 January 2008

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Industrial Liaison Program (ILP) will hold its annual MIT Europe Conference in Lisbon March 26-27, 2008. The MIT Portugal Program, in conjunction with the Luso-American Foundation (FLAD),  will host the conference, which will be held at the Four Seasons-Ritz Lisbon.

The ILP MIT-Europe Conference is the most important annual ILP event held in Europe.  Typically attended by heads of R&D, directors of strategic planning, and top European managers for Fortune 500 companies, the conference showcases some of MIT's most prominent faculty as well as selected industry and government leaders.  Additionally, the MIT Portugal Program will also hold a special session on March 25 to introduce this innovative program and its university-industrial links to many influential companies in Europe. This session will highlight for Europe's top companies specific opportunities for involvement and affiliation within the MIT Portugal Program.

Portugal was selected as the site for the 2008 conference based on the commitment that Portugal has made to science, technology and higher education under the leadership of Prime Minister José Sócrates and Mariano Gago, Minister for Science and Technology and Higher Education. Both the Prime Minister and Minister Gago have agreed to speak at the conference to demonstrate their commitment to science, technology and higher education as well as the strategic research and education partnership with MIT.
