Registration has started for the E3 Forum [June 30 at FCT-UNL and Pavilhão do Conhecimento]. Please go to our webpage and register for FREE. Remember that space is limited. Grab this unique opportunity to see Richard Wurman, Paul Stein, Claúdia Ranito, Zeinal Bava, Mackey Craven and all other speakers!

We have launched the main program, and the parallel sessions will be launched soon. Last minute confirmations are still under way and new speakers will be announced in the next few days.

E3 CGD Poster Award

This award will distinguish the best poster in each of the 4 tracks with a €500 prize, sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos. Submit your abstract now, following the detailed instructions here. Please note there is a limited number of posters available.

IST/INPI Training Sessions on Patents

IST is hosting a series of training sessions (sessões de formação) on Patents. These sessions are being organized by the IST Technology Transfer Office in a partnership with INPI, and are on subjects such as biotechnology and intelectual property, among others. Further information and the calendar are available here (in Portuguese). The next sessions are scheduled for June 9th.

 

E3 Forum Gathers Students, Faculty and Entrepreneurs

e3E3 is a 1-day forum organized by MIT Portugal students seeking to add value to knowledge through the creation of synergies between academia, industry, entrepreneurs and policy makers. It will take place at Faculdade de Ciência e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in Lisbon, on the 30th of June. Daniela Couto, a Bioengineering PhD student at IST, is one of the organizers, and talked to us about the event. Further details are available at the website www.e3forum.org.

We are delighted to announce that Richard Saul Wurman - founder of TED Conferences and TED MED - will be joining us at the E3 Forum. This is a unique opportunity to think out of the box with one of the most well known motivational speakers of our time. Now it is time for you to join us at e3forum.org and grab this opportunity. The E3 Forum website and Facebook page were launched early this week. Remember that the forum is FREE for all students and MIT Portugal students also have free accommodation and transportation (within Portugal) to Lisbon. Prizes will be awarded for the best posters in each "focus area" - call for posters will start next week.

XII PAPS Forum 2011 - Registration Open

The XII edition of the annual PAPS Forum will be taking place in New York at the NYU Langone Medical Center on April 16 and 17 this year.

In the dawn of this new decade Portugal faces a critical moment in its path to strive forward. Harvesting the Globalized Portuguese Talent abroad, over the next few years, will play a fundamental role on successfully overcoming this challenge.

As such, the PAPS Executive Committee proposes to its members to go and take part on a series of exciting panel sessions, namely "Portuguese Science: The Way Forward", "Impact of the Diaspora on the Portuguese Economy" and "Portugal: The Brand", backed up with prominent leaders from several fields of the globalized Portuguese Academia, Industry and Society. On Sunday morning the PAPS General Assembly will take place, electing a new team that will lead PAPS during the next year.

Your ideas, critical thinking and insight are of upmost importance for the success of this project. PAPS looks forward to welcoming you to New York City!

Registration Deadline: March 26, 2011

Travel Expenses Support: from 100 to 1000 miles up to $100, more than 1000 miles up to $250. At this moment only the first 50 Regular Members will receive support. PAPS will make an effort to extend this support to more members, pending on sponsors.
