The applications for the MIT Portugal Program’s academic year 2012/13 were open until April 30, 2012 for PhD programs, and until September 9, 2012 for Executive Master’s programs. We selected a total of 101 candidates coming from 17 different countries: Angola, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Mozambique, Poland, Republic of Macedonia, Portugal, Russia and Turkey.

The admissions selection process was conducted by juries composed of professors from each participating university in Portugal and from faculty at MIT.

Selection was based on the following criteria:

  • Academic grades
  • Professional CV
  • Motivation letter
  • Interview (not all programs)
  • Reference letters

Candidates who submitted good GRE scores enhanced their chances of acceptance.
