EDAM Advanced Study Course

Technology Management Enterprise (TME)

An Advanced Study Course in Technology Management Enterprise (TME), leading to 3rd Cycle Bologna Diploma is awarded jointly by the participating Portuguese Universities in the EDAM focus area.

Technology Management Enterprise is an intensive one-year program that trains technical managers for product development and production systems. Students will also learn management skills including human resources competences for bridging complex technical and management issues under a demanding production environment.  The interdisciplinary engineering and management-based curriculum culminates in a thesis derived from an industrially-oriented topic.

TME graduates will be capable of leading multidisciplinary teams in product development and manufacturing operations to address  multiple challenges in engineering design and manufacturing, including: innovative product development, advanced processing / fabrication solutions, and optimization of production processes under an integrated perspective of the product cycle.

The Advanced Study Course will comprise a curricular component and an industrial oriented thesis.

The curricular component was jointly developed by MIT and Portuguese faculty and addresses core areas in product development, advanced manufacturing and industrial management, namely:

  • Advanced Manufacturing Technology
  • Engineering Research Methods
  • Management
  • Product Development
  • Technology Evaluation & Selection
  • Engineering Systems
  • Fundamentals in Engineering Sciences
  • Operations Analysis
  • Production Management

Lectures and thesis orientation will be assured by a prestigious academic staff with senior professors and researchers from MIT (Engineering Systems Division), UMinho, FEUP an IST.

Selected students will be assigned to applied research projects to be developed under the frame of the EDAM agenda in cooperation with the Industrial Affiliates of the MIT-Portugal Program.
