DescriptionThe workshop entitled “Challenges in Cell and Gene Therapies” will take place on June 2nd at Biocant Park, Cantanhede (Portugal). This is the third annual workshop on the business-government interface organized by the Bio-engineering Systems Focus Area of the MIT Portugal Program. The workshop is organized by the MIT-Portugal Program and has the support of the Centre for Neurosciences and Cell Biology and Biocant. The aim of the event is to promote the interaction between industry, universities/research centers and government to discuss relevant topics related to regulatory and intellectual property issues, commercialization, and innovation in biotech. The event will have sessions with national and international entrepreneurs. The program will be organized in the following sessions Session 1: R&D -- Cellular and Gene Therapies Session 2: Intellectual Property and Regulatory Issues and Funding Session 3: Funding and Commercialization of Cellular and Gene Therapies Session 4: Stem Cell Banking and Clinical Impact of Cellular Therapies The closing session will include the participation of Manuel Heitor, Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Higher Education.
