With Energia 2020, the Univeristy of Lisbon and the Ordem dos Economistas will host a debate about energy issues that are likely to arise during 2010-2020. The event will focus on the following:

The need to define the Portuguese commitment concerning energy policy, which will become part of the Detailed Action Plan for Energy to be delivered in Brussels in June 2010

Discussion the December 2009 Copenhagen Conference

The following subjects will be addressed:

What is our starting point, vis-à-vis the structure of production and consumption of energy, public policiy (legislation, incentive programs, etc.), industry, and other stakeholders?

What are the state-of-the-art technologies, and those that are expected to evolve, that will have an impact on energy? What are the costs and the predictable economic and social impacts?

Which alternatives can foster the accomplishment of our goals for 2020? What are the possible consequences?
