Title:
The SENSEable City
When:
10.11.2009
Where:
Cambridge
Category:
Lecture

Description

This lecture on projects being conducted in MIT's interdisciplinary SENSEable City project will be delivered by MIT Portugal Program faculty Profs. Carlo Ratti and Assaf Biderman, as well as MIT Professors Francesco Calabrese and Liang Lu (all from MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning).

According to the SENSEable City Lab website, "the increasing deployment of sensors and hand-held electronics...is allowing a new approach to the study of the built environment. The way we describe and understand cities is being radically transformed -- alongside the tools we use to design them and impact on their physical structure."

The event will begin at 4:00 and end at 5:00 p.m.

This is part of a lecture series organized by Transportation@MIT, a major new MIT initiative geared toward addressing the world's pressing transportation-related issues. A number of MIT Portugal faculty have, and will, participate in this series. For the list of talks, and videos of the lectures, see http://transportation.mit.edu/events.php.
