Meet MIT Conference / Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL)

Meet MIT is a unique moment that will bring together the student and alumni communities from MIT and universities in Portugal to share relevant experiences in entrepreneurship, innovation and technological development in an intensive informal context.

The event is in the Grande Auditorio at FCT-UNL. It will begin at 2:00 p.m. (see full schedule below).

Entrepreneurship initiatives that will be presented at Meet MIT include the MIT Age Lab, Y-Dreams, SaafWater, Robopsy, MassChallenge, MIT Global Startup Workshop, and Multiwave. Meet MIT will culminate with an elevator pitch contest in which mixed groups of MIT students and alumni, together with Portuguese students in all fields – from science and engineering to business, law and social sciences – will in one hour be asked to provide a go-to-market strategy for a technology. The winning team, selected by a jury of specialists, will receive a 3,000 € prize. There will also be second and third prizes of 1500 € and 750 €, respectively.

Meet MIT is organized by Fernanda Llussá (FCT-UNL), Marcus Dahlem (MIT Global Startup Workshop), Isa P. Monteiro (Ph.D. Student, MIT Portugal) and Susana Barreiros (Vice-Dean, FCT-UNL), under the guidance of the advisors Fernando Santana (Dean, FCT-UNL), Charles Cooney (MIT), and Manuel Nunes da Ponte (FCT-UNL and MIT-Portugal). The event is sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos, the largest Portuguese banking group.

Meet MIT will bring together students and specialists from widely different areas at MIT with students and faculty from universities in Portugal, in a dynamic environment for exchange of views and experience.
