The applications for the MIT Portugal Program’s academic year 2011/12 were open until February 28, 2011 for PhD programs, March 31, 2011 for the MSc program, and June 15, 2011 for Executive Master’s programs. During the admissions process, the Program received a total of 480 applications from over 60 different countries around the world. The admissions selection process was conducted by juries composed of professors from each participating university in Portugal and from faculty at MIT. Selection was based on the following criteria: - Academic grades

- Motivation letter
- Interview (not all courses)
- Reference letters
