The MIT-Portugal Program is an international collaboration seeking to demonstrate that an investment in science, technology and higher education can have a positive, lasting impact on the economy by addressing key societal issues through quality education and research in the emerging field of engineering systems. The program has targeted bio-engineering systems, engineering design and advanced manufacturing, sustainable energy systems, and transportation systems as key areas for economic development and societal impact.
Third Edition of BioTeams Brings Ideas to Market
BioTeams student projects create go-to-market plans for real potential technologies from university and corporate labs. This year's Ciência 2010 conference featured presentations of the final projects.
The MISC project team is developing systems to securely gather biodata from the drivers of cars, trucks, taxis and other vehicles, as well as data on road conditions or critical infrastructures. Mapping this data will allow more effective decision-making for planners and other agencies.
Record Selectivity, International Quality for 2010 PhDs
The 101 candidates admitted to the 2010 MPP PhD cohort reflect the Program's increased selectivity, coming from such institutions as MIT, Imperial and ETH Zurich.
Visiting MPP students in Sustainable Energy Systems and Transportation Systems engaged in a year-long seminar with MIT students, helping create synergies among the students and their MIT faculty advisors.
